Cybersecurity Leader driving IT Risk/IT Resilience and Security Compliance to enable innovation and empower the business

It’s been just over a month since I left my job as the Deputy CISO at Premera Blue Cross. I want to thank my co-workers at Premera for an amazing 18-year career. Looking back, building out the Information Security, Cybersecurity, and IT GRC programs were amazing experiences, and provided me with depth and breadth of knowledge and skills. I feel lucky to have had great leaders and managers along the way, as well as incredible teammates. At this time, I am open to exploring new opportunities in the areas of Cybersecurity and IT GRC. Should you know of one, or be in need of an experienced Cybersecurity and GRC leader, let’s connect. One chapter closed, and now another opens. Nunc Coepi….Now I begin.

Here's a great tip for any leader who wants to ensure people will approach them. A simple phrase people can use to ask for help, without asking for help.

I completed a six-week intensive training on Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy through the MIT Sloan School of Management. It encompassed teaching the foundational aspects of AI and diving into ML, RPA, and NLP. I then created a vision, strategy, and implementation plan for a real-world application of AI, which was assessed and critiqued by my peers and advisors. This program elevated my thinking, and gave me the opportunity to consider AI and Cybersecurity through the lenses of a strategist, an implementer, and a consumer. My classmates brought a variety of perspectives which led me to consider how different organizations and different geographic locations assess and implement AI. My learnings from this class allows me to engage with my co-workers to drive a vision and strategy for what AI can unlock in an organization, in a secure and ethical manner.Overall, this was a challenging course and an excellent investment in my career development, and I'm grateful to Jeff Ehret and MIT Sloan School of Management for leading this experience.

With the level of dependency and connection with Third Parties, ensuring appropriate protections is paramount to protecting data. The Health 3rd Party Trust Initiative works to solve the problem.

I’m excited to announce that I will be representing Premera Blue Cross on the #H3PT council to reduce cyber risk across the healthcare industry’s entire third-party ecosystem. I am excited for this opportunity, and will share what we will be creating this year. Launched today, the Health 3rd Party Trust (Health3PT) Initiative is committed to bringing standards, credible assurance models, and automated workflows to solve the third-party risk management problem and advance the mission to safeguard sensitive information.#cybersecurity #healthcarecybersecurity #Health3PT
