Today is an exciting day for OSRS. They have just added a new boss to the game. This boss is classified as a Slayer boss, meaning you can only kill it on a Slayer task just like the Alchemical hydra or the Kraken. This boss also exists in Runescape 3 and they share some similarities.We have slayed this boss quite a bit already and here is a quick guide on how to slay this new creature and make bank on day 1.

Location

You can find the spider's location in Morytania, near Slepe. There are three different easy ways to get to that location:

1. You can use the newly added Spider cave teleports to directly teleport to the cave.
2. You can use your ectophial, from the quest "Ghost Ahoy" to teleport to the Ectofuntus and then run straight south east.
3. You can use the fairy ring code ALQ to teleport to the haunted woods and then run south

Araxxor Requirements

Being a Slayer boss first you will need at least level 92 Slayer to be able to damage this spider. To fight it first you must receive an araxyte slayer task. Keep in mind that if you don't want to slay this boss you can kill the little araxytes found outside the boss lair for your task.

First here are recommended the stats that you will need, obviously higher they are the better it is for you:

• Attack: Level 85+
• Strength: Level 85+
• Defence: Level 80+
• Prayer: Level 70+
• Hitpoints: Level 85+
• Magic: Level 94 (If you are going for the vengeance route, will be explained in the next section.)
• Ranged: Level 99 (If you are going the ranged route, will be explained in the next section.)

There are two main ways one can kill this boss here are the setups:

Melee Venge Setup

You will need to have the quest "Lunar diplomacy" completed.

From most effective to least effective

• Helmet: Slayer Helmet(i)
• Neck: Amulet of blood fury/Amulet of rancour (if you already have it)/ Amulet of torture
• Ammo: Holy blessing
• Cape: Infernal/Fire Cape
• Body: Inquisitor's hauberk/Torva platebody/Bandos chestplate
• Legs: Inquisitor's plateskirt
• Weapon: Scythe of vitur (on crush)/Inquisitor's mace/Abyssal bludgeon/Sarachnis cudgel
• Shield: Avernic/Dragon defender
• Boots: Primordial boots/Dragon boots
• Gloves: Ferocious Gloves/Barrows gloves
• Ring: Ultor ring/Berserker ring(i)
• Special attack: Burning claws/Elder Maul

Inventory

• 1 anti venom+ (not mentioning the new venom pot since it is day 1)
• 1 Divine super combat potion
• 4 Prayer potions
• 1 Stamina potion (if you are teleporting to the haunted woods or the Ectofuntus, you can drink and bank this then teleport.)
• Your teleport of choice (Ectophial, spider cave teleport, dramen staff
• House teleport tablets
• Rune pouch with death, earth and astral runes
• 3 Karambwans
• Your spec weapon
• Rest of the inventory is your food of choice

Melee Ranged Setup

• Helmet: Slayer Helmet(i)
• Neck: Amulet of blood fury/Amulet of rancour (if you already have it)/ Amulet of torture
• Ammo: Dragon javelins
• Cape: Infernal/Fire Cape
• Body: Inquisitor's hauberk/Torva platebody/Bandos chestplate

Inventory

Ranged Switch

Your ranged strength bonus is the most important part of your switch, so if you want to you can bring more ranged items but these three should be enough:

• Amulet of anguish
• Dizana's quiver/Ava's assembler/Ava's accumulator
• Heavy ballista

Rest of the Inventory

• 1 anti venom+ (not mentioning the new venom pot since it is day 1)
• 1 Divine super combat potion
• 1 Divine ranging potion (highly optional, not recommended)
• 3-4 Prayer potions
• 1 Stamina potion (if you are teleporting to the haunted woods or the Ectofuntus, you can drink and bank this then teleport.)
• Your teleport of choice (Ectophial, spider cave teleport, dramen staff)
• House teleport tablets
• Rune pouch with death, earth and astral runes

Mechanics of Araxxor

Everything that the boss does is venomous so make sure to always use your anti venom.

Weakness

You have probably already noticed but Araxxor is extremely weak to crush attacks, if you don't have a crush weapon you can always use a slash weapon which is its second weakness.

Regular Attacks

Araxxor has two regular attacks:

1. When you are at melee distance to Araxxor he will hit you with its legs which is a melee attack.
2. If you are not in melee distance to Araxxor he will hit you with a magic attack. Also it will constantly move towards you to do its melee attack.

Once you enter the boss arena you should move towards the middle and put on your protection from melee to start hitting the boss. When you move away from the boss you must flick to your magic prayer to avoid taking more damage than you must.

Eggs and Spiderlings

There are three different eggs that will spawn all around the area, which will hatch one by one during the fight. The order of hatching will start from the south-eastern most egg and will continue along in a clockwise fashion one by one, you should be able to kill the boss without having all of the eggs hatch and spawn.

These eggs, their spawns and how to deal with them are as follows:

1. Mirror back spider: White eggs spawns mirror back spiders which soaks some of the damage you deal to Araxxor or itself and reflects it back at you. There are two ways to deal with this, first if you are using the vengeance setup, you need to hit the mirrorback spider and cast vengeance right afterwards. This will completely negate the spider's mirror damage and kill the spider. You will always hit your max hit on this spider. The second way is by bringing a heavy ballista and some range equipment, if you are far away from the spider it will not be able to reflect damage back to you. So you can simply hit the spider from a distance. If you can't one hit it, you can hit it a second time while moving away or simply you can continue hitting the boss, by doing so you will take little damage and the spider will kill itself from the damage it soaks.
2. Acid spiders: From the green egg will come the acid spider. This spider is a ranged minion and will hit you for consistent little damage. To kill this spider simply hit it, Elder maul and such high hitting weapons will one hit this spider. After the spider dies it will spill venom around its corpse so immediately move away to avoid taking damage.
3. Explosive Spiders: From the red egg will come the explosive spider. This spider will move towards the player and will explode upon reaching the player. If you stand close to it at the time of the explosion you will take massive damage so simply move away at the right time to avoid this. You should move at least 3 tiles away. Turning on true tiles for this spider can help tremendously with the timing. There are two ways you can use this spider to your benefit. First if you make it explode under Araxxor it will deal 80 damage to it. Secondly if you make it explode near an egg the egg will take 64 damage. If you don't hit the egg after that it will delay the hatching of the egg.

Aside from all the information above you can kill the eggs if you want to, to avoid spiders from spawning. However this will make your kill much slower and it is not recommended unless you need to do it.

Rotations and Special Attacks

Araxxor has three different rotations in total. Don't let that scare you, it is actually much easier than Zulrah to learn. Depending on which rotation it is, it will use a different special move on you. These rotations only change after each kill so you don't have to constantly worry about figuring out the rotation.

When the fight starts you will notice some eggs that spawn all around the arena with three different colors. The color of the egg on the south-east corner (shown on the picture above) will determine the rotation of Araxxor. Here are the move Araxxor will use depending on the rotation:

1. Red egg rotation/Venom drip attack: This is the most annoying rotation. If the south-eastern corner has a red egg, Araxxor will use a venom drip attack a few ticks after each egg hatch. This attack is easily noticeable, you will see that Araxxor will spit a single venom drop on you. After this your character will make the ground you stand on venomous. This effect will last around 5-6 seconds. If you stand where you are during this time you will constantly take venom damage. You must constantly move to avoid taking damage. Since each tile you walk on will become venomous, you should turn off your run energy and walk.

2. White egg rotation/Venom splash attack: This is the easiest rotation out of the three. Araxxor will simply splash some venom in your direction after every spiderling spawn. To avoid this simply move a few tiles away.

3. Green egg rotation/Venom arrow: This rotation is pretty similar to the white egg one. After every spider spawn, Araxxor will turn its head and lock on to the nearest vertical line near your character and shoot a ball of venom in that direction. If you are in its way you will take damage. This ball will make the ground it passes over venomous and when it hits the wall it will splatter and make the surrounding area venomous. When you realise that Araxxor is locked on to something other than you move to the opposite direction to dodge this.

Enraged Phase

After Araxxor reaches around 25% of its health, it will go into its enraged phase. You can notice this because Araxxor will put its two limbs in its mouth to coat them in venom. It will gain attack speed which can be devastating if you are not standing in melee distance since you will be bombarded with high accuracy magic attacks. From this point on Araxxors attacks become AOE attacks that cover 3 tiles and the tiles that are being attacked will become venomous. Before each attack Araxxor will scream and you will be able to see this text form on top of its head as so: "Scree!". Each time you see this text simply move two tiles in a direction and attack once. If you don't have anywhere to go to your left or right simply take a step back and attack Araxxor after it's attack since it will automatically move towards you. Repeat this process until Araxxors health reaches 0.

Simple Kill

1. Drink your anti-venom+, put on your protect from melee and enter the cave.
2. Squeeze through the opening to enter Araxxors lair.
3. Drink your divine combat potion, put on piety and dump your special attacks as soon as Araxxor lands.
4. Notice the south-eastern egg and get ready to deal with it as explained above.
5. Depending on the rotation, keep dodging its special attacks
6. If you can make sure to damage the next egg in the rotation with an explosive spider to delay the next spawn.
7. Once you are in the enrage phase make sure to move every time you see "Scree!" and hit right afterwards.
8. Once it is dead, loot it and make sure you are potted up and antivenomed for the next fight!.
